School Counselors provide a comprehensive school counseling program to support all students’ academic, career, and personal/social growth.
We believe in working with parents and guardians to support their students.
- We meet with students to discuss their progress and goals in academic and career areas, including their academic schedules.
- We offer brief, solution-focused support if students or parents request it for personal / social reasons (for example, dealing with the loss of a family member, getting along with others, staying safe, or coping skills).
- If an emergency arises, such as a student is believed to be having thoughts of hurting themselves or others, School Counselors can meet with students to discuss these concerns and then contact parents/guardians.
We follow the Cod of Ethics from the American School Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association as well as laws pertaining to school personnel (eg, FERPA).
SB 49 requires parents/guardians to agree/consent for School Counselors to support their students.
- This consent must be given each year.
- Parents/guardians can revoke this consent at any time by putting this request in writing to the school.
