This 2-day event brings graduating seniors from Launch partner schools together for one last rush of fun, activities, tools, and conversations around the things that they need most.
These students get to hear from main stage speakers like college professors and addiction specialists, but they will also have breakout sessions they get to choose!
Those topics include: self-defense, healthy eating, time and money management, Q&As with alumni who have been away and experienced the joys and pitfalls of the Greek system, clubs, and college athletics.
And beautifully, it's an amazing couple of days where students get to practice those needed skills of meeting new people as they interact with participants from other schools and make connections with others headed to their same university.
Meals and snacks are provided, games and free time are built in, and you know us! We are going to do EVERYTHING we can to make it a memorable experience!
Topics Covered (known at this point):
- The First Month of College: A discussion with a college professor
- Healthy Eating
- Time and Money Management
- Our Relationship with Substance: A candid discussion around drugs and alcohol
- Basic Self-Defense and De-escalation
- Consent - What it does and doesn't mean
- Growth Mindset: How to pivot when your story goes differently than you expected
Location:
Union at Station West: Gallery
Cost:
$50 per student (normally $100 but, Gray Stone is paying half for all who choose to attend).
If $50 is a hardship for you, let Mrs. Ince know and we can make arrangements.
We want everyone to have this opportunity!
Transportation:
Car pool with friends or let Mrs. Ince know if you need a ride.
We will provide bussing from and back to Gray Stone for those students who need it.
Security:
Facility Staff
2 Off-Duty Police Officers
Deadline:
We are trying to get our first ideas of participant numbers by Feb 1st.
As a LAUNCH partner school, we want you to have first claim on seats for your students.
If at all possible, please let us know by then if you believe your students will be joining us.
That will allow us to best manage that space and know how many seats we need/have available.
The max number participating would be 450, but we are expecting around 350 from our 3 partner schools.
