Gray Stone Day School

US News and World Report has released the 2023 rankings for the Best High Schools in America. Gray Stone Day School ranked 16th out of all public high schools in North Carolina. It ranked 125th nationally out of 1,854 public charter high schools and ranked #612 (top 2%) out of 25,000 public high schools reviewed in the nation.

"For a small rural school in North Carolina, we are definitely able to compete with high schools in urban areas in preparing our students to excel in college,” said Helen Nance, Chief Administrative Officer at the school. “I am very proud of all the dedication and hard work students and teachers have shown.”

Gray Stone Day School offers 15 advanced placement courses this year as well as honors level courses to prepare students for a four-year college experience. The students also take college courses in the community college system that transfer to state universities. This ranking is based on the students’ performance on the advanced placement tests as well other college preparatory measures.
