All questions come from the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) curriculum standards.
Middle school students take a placement test created by the GHC.
Top students are then invited to participate in regional and national events.
Thirteen seventh and eighth graders competed in the regional competition at Winthrop University March 25.
Brady Lowe, Michael Bristol, Leo McLeod, Gabriel Webster, Anna Lynne Marino, Aaron Maynor, Gabriel Shafer, Rose Brookshire and Will Charest qualified for the national competition that will take place in Chicago May 24-26.
