Gray Stone middle school students compete in county-wide Battle of the Books

Gray Stone Day School middle school students competed in the Stanly County Battle of the Books competition on April 16.
Four middle schools from across the county participated in the friendly competition where students collaborate to show off their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and testing their knowledge of books they have read.
A total of 20 books were required to read to participate in the competition.
“I am so proud of our students for their hard work in preparing for this competition.
Battle of the Books is truly a celebration of reading and being able to discuss with others their love of reading.
I can’t think of a better way to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with their peers.”
Said Pam Rutherford, English teacher at Gray Stone Day School.
Battle of the Books team members include: 6 th grade: Teague Rowland, 7 th grade: Noah Young, Brody McManus, Lorelai Sauder, Kayda Baucom, Reese Lee, Charlotte Sammons, Olivia Speights, 8 th grade: Racheal Travis, and Sa’Leah Schneider.
Gray Stone Day School is a public charter school and free to attend.
